The batters of team India have done well throughout the series cycle and there are several innings by our great heroes. In the market, numerous cricket video apps are available and there you watch all matches even at free of cost. India is always well known for its batting depth and the iconic batters in its squad. This article is about some of those splendid knocks that the world has witnessed in this ICC Test Championship.
1. Ajinkya Rahane Vs Australia At The MCG in 2020
The recent form of Ajinkya Rahane may not be that great but his knock at MCG against Australia in 2020 coil never be forgotten by any Indian. His knock during the second test in Chennai against the same team was also one of the great knocks people ever witnessed.
Rahane’s century in the first innings of the Boxing Day MCG test was the foundation for the Indian team to win that tough series in Australia.
That innings of Rahane was very special because during that time the whole team India could not overcome the horror at Adelaide where they were all out at only 36 runs. In the MCG test, India was without their best batter Virat Kohli and when Rahane came to the crease India was already 64/3.
During that situation, playing a knock like that without giving a single chance to the Aussie bowlers was a very big thing. Rahane gave respect to all the great deliveries and waited patiently for rare loose ones so that he can be at the crease for hours to help the team out of that situation. He created a brilliant 52 runs partnership with Hanuma Vihari and another 57 runs with Rishabh Pant. The biggest partnership was with Ravindra Jadeja, 121 runs and after that, Rahane got run out, unfortunately.
But till he got out, India has already posted a massive lead for the Australian and they started planning to get them out as cheaply as possible in the third innings so that they do not have to chase that much. In the fourth innings, India required 70 runs to win and again Rahane played a brilliant captain’s knock and helped the team to go at par in the series.
2. Rohit Sharma Vs England at Chennai in 2021
Rohit Sharma has been a great frontline opener for India for years. His performance is always great in home conditions and when he returned to the test squad in 2019, his performances in tests have become quite consistent.
In the past two years especially during the Test Championship title, Rohit has played several splendid knocks which included twin centuries in Vizag against South Africa and also his 200 runs knock against the same team in Ranchi.
But the most vital and great knock was the 161-run knock against England in the second test of the series because of the importance of that series for the Test Championship. The pith of Chepauk in that match was pretty slow but he hit the bowlers of England quite brutally and scored a very important century for his team.
3. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur Vs Australia at Brisbane in 2021
Winning the famous Gabba test would not be possible for India if the innings of Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur had not come at that moment.
In the first innings Australia put up 369 runs and in reply, India was reeling at 186/6 when both of them came out to the crease. Both Sundar and Thakur were batting for the first time in their life in the test and both showed great composure and technique. Shardul was the main aggressor and he started hitting fours and sixes to the Aussie poachers and both put up a healthy partnership of 123 runs. Shardul ended his brilliant knock at 67 runs from 115 deliveries and Sundar at 62 from 144 deliveries.
This partnership gave only a lead of 33 runs to Australia and the rest was history.
4. Rishabh Pant Vs Australia At Brisbane in 2021
The last part of the ICC Test Championship for the team India was all about the growth of Rishabh Pant’s maturity in the test format. This 23-year-old player from Delhi has played several match-winning knocks and was improved quite a bit behind the wickets also. His several knocks came when India was in a bit tricky situation.
Rishabh Pant scored 97 when it came to the Sydney test match in the fourth innings itself. He had also previously scored a 92 in the first innings of a match in Chennai and before that he also scored a brilliant century against the strong bowling attack of England.
But to date, the best test knock of his career came against Australia when scored a very valuable and responsible unbeaten 89 runs knock and helped the Indian team to chase down 328 runs to win that test match.
Rishabh Pant came to the crease when India’s most trusted test batter Ajinkya Rahane got out but India still needed 161 runs to win from 42.5 overs.
Pant started very cautiously and his luck was also with him when Tim Paine, Australia’s wicketkeeper missed a stumping. Just after he came to the crease, India’s test expert Pujara also got out. But once he settled in the crease, he started to hit the balls beautifully. Along with big strokes, he also made an important partnership with Washington Sundar by taking singles and two to keep the scoreboard active.
These were some of the great performances of the Indian batters in the WTC cycle. Apart from these, there were several other important performances by the Indian batters. You can watch those videos online but many people do not know where to watch all of them.
